AVACS Newsletter – Aug/Sep 2020 Edition
Message from AVACS President
Dear AVACS residents, family members and staff,
In July 2020, there were Covid19 outbreaks at Thai Rock restaurant, Wetherill Park and RSL Club Smithfield. Both venues were so close to our AVACS Nursing home. In response to these outbreaks and to avoid spreading of the virus into the Aged Care facilities, The NSW Health Department has ordered immediate lock down of all nursing home facilities In Sydney including our AVACS nursing home until now.
On behalf of AVACS Board, I would like to thank you very much effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus within our nursing home in order to protective your love ones.
To all AVACS staff, I would like to thank you very much and commend for your great commitment and effort to undergo Covid-19 testing at our nursing home twice within the past 3 months. The results were fantastic and of great news that everyone tested Negative for Covid-19 illness. This result showed that our staff are really working hard and strictly followed the Government guidelines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and helping to keep our beloved residents safe.
Until we have a vaccine for this Covid-19 pandemic, hopefully in the near future, we cannot be complacent, we cannot let our guard down, we must continue our good infection control practice by:
1. Frequent hands washing.
2. Continue with social distancing at the workplace, in the shopping center, in the public place, on the train or bus.
3. Wearing mask at work, in the crowded public place, on the train or bus.
4. Coughing in the elbow.
5. Do not go to work if you have fever or flu-like symptoms. You must contact your GP or attend the Fever Clinic near your place to have Covid-19 testing immediately. All AVACS staff should have temperature check when coming into the nursing home.
We all need to work together, to support each other to protect our beloved residents.
Once again, I would like to thank you very much everyone for your great understanding, co-operation, and hard working. We need to stay healthy to care for our elderly people and our family members.
Best regards,
Dr. David Tang
