AVACS Newsletter – July/Aug/Sep 2021 Edition
M E S S A G E F R O M A V A C S P R E S I D E N T
Dear AVACS residents, family members and staff,
Since June this year until now, our AVACS Nursing Home has been under strict lockdowns together with many other Aged Care Facilities in Fairfield LGA due to Covid 19 Pandemic. Our staff have been working extremely hard to care for our residents, having Covid 19 testing frequently every week in order to protect our frail elderly residents. Now, we can see light at the end of the tunnel, the infected cases have been markedly reduced as 70% of the people of NSW have been fully vaccinated, then we could reach 90% fully vaccination by early December 2021. Of great news, by now we have 100% of our staff are fully vaccinated. This is a very important step to protect our residents and staff from severe complications of Covid 19 illness.
On behalf of AVACS Board, I would like to thank you all AVACS staff for the job well done to care for our residents and to keep our residents safe. I also would like to thank you all residents and family members for your understanding and cooperation during the pandemic lockdowns. Under the NSW Health and State Government Directions, many restrictions will be gradually lifted, starting from 11 October until the end of November and hopefully our ways of life would be back to normal by December this year.
In order to keep up with the good work, to care for and protecting our residents from Covid 19 illness, I would encourage everyone to have Covid vaccine as soon as possible if you have not done so, and continue to keep up with your good infection control by keeping social distance, wearing mask when you are going to work or visiting the residents, washing hands often and if you feel unwell with sore throat, runny nose, coughing or fever, please do not come to the nursing home and see your GP for COVID 19 testing.
On 14 September 2021, our residents have celebrated Moon Festival with delicious meal and moon cakes kindly donated by Mr and Mrs. Quoc Xuyen Lam, Directors of Ettason, a leading Asian Food Company in Australia and Jimmy- Nancy Lee bakery. On behalf of AVACS, I would like to thank you very much Mr and Mrs. Quoc Xuyen Lam, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Lee for your kindness.
Hope to see everyone very soon once the restrictions are lifted.
Dr. David Minh Tang AVACS President
